Inner Ecology
Contemporary Jewelry Collection

Inner Ecology explores our inner biology through contemporary jewelry. Inspired by the growing understanding of the microbiota and the gut-brain connection, it is a personal artistic interpretation of our hidden ecosystems and the life contained in them, our health and who we are.

The project is part of my fascination with human biology and my personal experience with celiac disease. As I learned about the damage and healing of my own intestinal gut, I returned to the biological drawings I had made years earlier while studying human biology to seek understanding. Through jewelry, these drawings have evolved into a new visual language that allows me to explore the invisible world within us.

Using metal, enamel, thermoformed textiles, colourful stones, pearls, and light, I translate microscopic biological structures into tactile, wearable forms. The beauty and complexity of these living systems hidden within our bodies are interpreted through textile forms evoking villi and their clusters and networks, recalling cellular structures; a universe of bacteria coexists with us. Here, light becomes a metaphor for revealing what is normally hidden from view.

Jewelry expresses identity, memory, and belonging. Inner Ecology expands this conversation by inviting us to consider another dimension of identity: the invisible biological communities that sustain us. We often think of ourselves as autonomous individuals, yet our bodies exist in constant dialogue with countless microorganisms that influence our health and our relationship with the world.

By transforming hidden biological structures into objects of adornment, Inner Ecology celebrates the extraordinary beauty of the ecosystems we carry within us. It is an invitation to recognize that the landscapes inside our bodies can inspire the same sense of wonder as the natural world around us.
